A friend relayed a story of a woman in a neighboring LA city. The woman has a protected tree on her property. This means her ability to do as she wants/needs with the tree is strictly curtailed. Branches touch her roof which is a big no no in CA. Insurers won't issue a policy with that hazard. So she will lose her insurance which means she will lose her mortgage. Hopefully, the media coverage will help in her situation but there are so many who don't get media coverage in similar instances where common sense has left the room and regulation has taken its place.
