The vast majority of African Americans have a lot of European ancestry. Choosing one part of your ancestry to identify with, and pretending that some of your own ancestors aren't the exact wrong-doers you accuse modern-day people (who weren't born at the time of the acts you want reparations for) of being is a logical fallacy. Slavery, as awful as it is to all parties involved, has been practiced by all of our ancestors, all over the world. The resulting problems can't be paid away. Life just isn't that simplistic.

yeah I wrote about the moral and logistical issues with reparations that you mention here previously. you may have seen it but here's the link in case you missed it: https://www.thedailybell.com/all-articles/news-analysis/will-california-really-send-blacks-223200-each-in-slavery-reparations/

Thanks, many good points, including about the slippery slope of general grievance compensation. These so called rsocial justice initiatives never stand a chance of actually improving anyone's life, and are therefore profoundly morally suspect.

Why is there no coverage of descendants of Civil War Union soldiers?

i thought this british crown proxy did a really good job bringing up all the British navy men who died enforcing the ban on slavery back in the day -- which would also apply to the civil war union soldiers you mention

Yes, I saw that already and you're so right. All these people demanding reparations seem to forget that many men gave life and limb for the cause already. Imagine how that affected their families, and yet none of their families are asking for reparations.
