As much a problem here is the hospital in the story. Their own cowardice and authoritarianism led to siccing the police on this guy in the first place.

the hospital is the worst place to be when you’re in pain. i could fill a book with just a few of my hospital horror stories. idk if it’s diff in other countries, but in the US it’s almost as if hospital staff torture ppl in pain on purpose--it’s psychopathic.

hospitals are more chaotic but less pathological in Third World countries in my experience
