I am a student of Austrian economic theory and its application to everyday life. A chief element of economics is time preference. The definition is as follows:

“Time preference is the extent to which people value current consumption over future consumption. If people enjoy current consumption so much, that the promise of an increased future consumption cannot bring them to save (and sacrifice the current level of consumption), the production will not be improved.”

This applies to all forms of economy, including health. Overconsumption has consequences. Obesity is Keynesian health theory. Deferred gratification values future health outcomes over immediate satisfaction. Keynesian eaters are depending on "The Science" to clean up the carnage for their profligate overconsumption.

GLP1 agonists may serve a purpose if they are used correctly, but they won't be. Simply taking them to reduce appetite will result in a disproportionate reduction of lean muscle mass and lower metabolic rate. Basically, it's a pharma-driven version of The Biggest Loser.

... I worked the better part of half my career, on the delivery end of mainstream media. Crux of the dilemma with the mainstream media news publishing is, structural. ABC once allowed a generous 25% "unaccounted for," in paid circulation. What that meant was, say a newspaper publisher boasted 100 thousand subscribers, paid circulation? That meant, accounting for home delivery editions thrown into bushes or fish ponds by youth carriers, single copy editions swiped from convenience stores, newspaper racks, these publishers were allowed to fluff advertising rates, 25% over paid circulation, charging ad rates as though they actually delivered 125 thousand subscribers. Advent of the information superhighway, nothing to fluff. Nobody gets a newspaper. No one wants one. No income from classified advertising, no point even bother auditing paid circulation, for which to determine advertising rates? These newspaper publishers are now at beck and call, slave to the corporations, who now determine their advertising rates, good 'ol boy style, based arbitrarily on their willingness to "play ball." These "journalists" have no choice, but print copy bolstering corporation ideology, save who may. It's play ball. Or, else. Big pharma is loving it. Big pharma is mopping the floor, with mainstream media - Samuel.

... never have I seen a newspaper publisher fudging less than 120%, unaccounted for. Auditing single copy sales, I've seen it for myself, local news publishers, over 500%, breakfast cereal promos, employees taking home trash bags stuffed, with breakfast cereal never delivered to Sunday morning paid subscribers. Rigging newspaper circulation, the last 200 years? These are the kind of people who have no compunction whatsoever, looking the other way, turning a blind eye to rigging election rigging - Samuel.
