Not only is anti-Semitism conflated with anti-Zionism, and a gross misnomer, it has been weaponized to stifle any meaningful debate on any topic the authoritarians want to poison. Without a profound re-education of the general public, this hot-button label will continue to hold sway over mind and mouth.
By shutting up dissenting voices, the authoritarians effectively create a pressure cooker that ultimately expresses itself in violence against Jews, which in turn feeds back into the anti-Semitism trap. The only way out is to stop giving an ear to anyone throwing this term around. When they learn that we no longer buy the collective guilt, they will perforce change tactics, and perhaps even come to the discussion on equal footing.
