I realized I have NEVER tried to join an organization that isn't exclusive. Every employer, every sports team I've tried out for--even 100% recreational sports like pickleball--they become miserable and untenable when we INCLUDE everyone.
My first job in the Army was as a tank driver. Combat arms. In 1989, this was 100% male. In fact, we were such savages that women were NOT ALLOWED IN OUR BUILDINGS. Girlfriends who showed up had to stay outside, or just inside the foyer while a kid on duty found the Soldier in question.
I changed career fields and worked military intelligence, which includes both men and women.
It is different. Better in some ways, but in some ways much much much less effective and more complicated.
Who ever coined 'diversity is our strength' never fought a war. And, where is the proof with that statement.
All of this equity BS raises bile in my stomach. Equity?
In Battle Creek, Michigan today, officials announced $16K grants to four local pot shops for " equity", including public outreach and equity education for BudTenders, part of a million dollar state cannabis equity program.
