HAHAHAHA! I just about spit out my breakfast cereal reading that I can be a healthy man by slogging down copious quantities of "just-add-water cereal popping up a convenience stores". Poor Captain Crunch, he's heading to his final resting place in Davey Jones Locker.
When I do eat cereal (I prefer leftovers for breakfast), I opt for oat groats which I've made in the Instant Pot with vanilla and Ceylon cinnamon. I quit eating boxed cereal a long time ago. Most of a lot of it is mostly air, and does not leave you satiated unless you eat half the box.
I simply do not trust the "experts" line anymore. I want to know what their names are, who writes their paychecks, who they're beholden to for said paychecks, how much they got paid by the publication to lend their "credibility"to the article, and what the conflicts of interest are. Without that info, I dismiss the articles as crap.
I don't want to hear "experts say" or "studies say". You give me information, or your whole article is somebody's propaganda.
I am nearing 75 and have eaten cereal for 70 years. Maybe not everyday, but at least a few times a week. I have tried just about all of them over the years and some of my favorites they no longer make. Cereals like Team, Oat Flakes, Sugar Krinkles and Puffed Rice. I eat hot cereals too. But I avoid most sugary types and never put sugar on my cereals.
So I don't know about the cereal thing having eaten them for so long without any medical problems. I don't know who to believe anymore...the nutritionists trying to sell you supplements or the cereal makers trying to sell you cereal.
Eggs, best breakfast food ever hence the vilification and "bird flu" scare.

I still love cereal, but consider it a dessert treat that should be eaten only once in a while.
Ramen too. It's so bad it's good. I can't help myself.
