In the 1960s, my father had a sign on his desk in the Texas Senate that read, "When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember that your first though was to drain the swamp."

The term "deep state" (derin deviet) originated in Turkey in the 1920s, but the concept is as old as government itself. Kublai Khan lamented the Han bureaucrats that actually ran his empire, Cicero and Tacitus decried the inherent corruption of governments, and one theory of the fall of Rome involves the take-over of government by Greek and Phoenician ex-slaves who had infested the bureaucracy.

That the GeezerMedia is just now discovering the "deep state" shows just how vacuous and uneducated they are.

Keep spreading the word Ben. It's only a matter of time that the Wall falls upon those weaklings who by their willful ignorance have been supporting this creeping totalitarianism

All very true, succinct summary! While I've been aware of the evil Pharma-State romance for over a quarter century, I was most definitely not aware of the degree to which The Machine Behind The Scene is in control, nor of the degree of its hostility, until the past couple of fateful years. There is a certain beauty in things reaching such a low (and idiots guilty of hubris overplaying their hand) that eyes finally start to open left and right (of course politically speaking more right than left ...:-).

The "Deep State" is a lousy label for the 'enemy'

which enables and empowers everything inflicted upon the innocent.

The 'UNelecteds' might better describe what they are (UNwanteds).

As usual the way you write grips me by my throat and pulls me into the universe that you paint with words.

If interested, one of the best works ever written about deep states and government take overs is a book written by Nien Cheng and titled LIFE AND DEATH IN SHANGHAI. It is one woman's experience of the communist take over of China, known as the Cultural Revolution. Great name huh? Really it is a total dictatorship of a massive country and it's people. Every American should read this book because some of the seeds of its history is happening in present-day-America!

... America's number 1 problem as of this writing: the mainstream media. America's number 2 problem: defense-intelligence (e.g., the CIA). If our policy community doesn't nip America's number 2 problem, in the bud, sometime soon? America's best days well behind her, its mainstream media will be permanently lost, and the republic will be doomed to crumble, to mob rule - Samuel

Obama fired over 2000 civil servants and replaced them with handpicked people from judges to intelligence officers. This was done quietly, without hardly any notice. So, this was another way to set Clinton up to proceed with his intention of systematically and fundamentally changing America. Remember those words? So everything we see isn’t from Biden, but rather from the Obama administration carryover to HRC. When she lost, you could see the unbelief that followed her. Remember how long it took her to give her concession speech and how she looked when finally made her first public appearance. Then comes grandpa Joe after cheating to win and only two people who weren’t part of Obama’s administration were on board and acceleration began because now they were four years behind schedule. And here we are. About to be sold off lock, stock and barrel to our enemies and thanks to the wonderful people in power we have too many to count.

One Deep Stater that we never hear about is Alan Greenspan who is now very old. His wife is always on TV spewing lies. He changed the formula for Social Security about 40 years ago, but Congress spent all the money on other things, of course. I have to look into his origins and see where he came from.......
