I happen to be a vegetarian of decades standing. Nevertheless, what unsettles me is that these diet experts/dictators never seem to include in their philosophies, the individuality and heritage (physiological, genetic, soical, cultural, enviromental etc ) of their subjects.

Humans are not the only animals who will consume milk as adults. Never saw a picture of a cat lapping up a saucer of milk? When I spill milk, my dogs are quick to clean the floor. Adult pigs will also drink milk if it is offered to them. Some goats never lose their taste for milk. I've even seen a couple of goats suckling themselves. And it isn't just mammals. Chickens won't turn down milk. My ducks and geese will drink it too.

Absolutely my first thought was that my adult cats love milk! Maybe my critters aren't picky out here but the dogs and chickens will go for it too

There's a learning curve to growing one's own food and even when you're well on your way to producing more than enough to feed yourself and half the neighborhood, the body will consume itself without a LOT of dense calories. Calories are worth their weight in gold when you're eating mostly vegetables.

So how do the Seventh Day Adventists compensate for this naturally low caloric intake? They eat a fair amount of junk food and infuse their fake meat with a LOT of sugar. All of their canned meat products are packed full of sugar. Contrary to popular beliefs, there is no lack of obese vegetarian Seventh Day Adventists. They might stay away from meat, but they compensate by eating plenty of Doritos tortilla strips, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, etc. etc. etc. Those who stay away from the junk food look like they've been hitting the meth pipe for the last few months.

Nobody owes us a diet of meat. What this boils down to is the fact that if you really want to eat meat, you're going to have to figure out how you're going to acquire, raise, slaughter, cook and eat it yourself. I love beef, but I'm not going to raise cattle just so I can eat it. However, a few goats might be manageable, and I love poultry and fish just as much and can skin and gut a chicken, duck, or fish in less time than it took to write this comment.

Here they eat bugs, frogs, monkeys, lizards and nobody thinks anything of it.

Yes, the mayor of New York wants to surveil people's credit card data to see if they are eating meat so he can stop them. He is proof positive that being a vegan warps your mind. My personal view is that any "diet" that is not what we evolved eating (and we can now prove that by chemical analysis of bones) cannot possibly be optimal, no matter how much propaganda you throw at it. Furthermore, we now know that plants communicate, feel pain, support their young, put up defenses against being eaten and have a brain that runs all through their bodies. No matter how much vegans spin their crap, you cannot eat in this universe without killing something that wants to live.
