There is a certain logic for transhumanism in the ultra rich. Being 70 and an ultra billionaire has got to be bittersweet: There is no way you will live long enough to enjoy all that money. The money buys everything except immortality.

And I bet that that fear of mortality is like a rash: it spreads. Now 50 year olds feel like they are being cheated of the enjoyment of their money. Next: 40 year olds. Mortality becomes the jester that pees on the seat of your private jet, that leaves feces in the corners of your mansions. You see in the eyes of your much younger girlfriend her calculating the days until your death, so she can enjoy the money she extracted from you in peace with a guy she actually is attracted to.

Death is the great leveler: You must die just like a "commoner". And your money is taken away!!

For most people, death is a well deserved rest after spending oneself completely. For the rich, death is the armed robber that takes your fortune and humbles you, nay, HUMILIATES you.

For me, I enjoy the thought of this secret misery of the narcisistic selfish rich. "Your foundation can't help you now!! Ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha!! Ha!!"

Sometimes it seems like some white-coated prankster on the White House staff slips a little plasma from a young iguana into the Big Guy's morning cocktail. It would explain a lot.
