While researching a tangentially related topic — the organized replacement of white people in their ancestral homelands by the United Nations and its partners (see: here) — I was made to understand that one of the gifts, among many, that colored people generously bestow upon their culturally challenged Caucasian hosts is food seasoning.
Go into Tammi Mac's kitchen and the odds are that you'll find garlic salt, onion salt and Old Bay. That's what quite a few black folks seem to call "seasoning". Meanwhile, in my kitchen you'll find shelves with some 42 different herbs and spices.
I suspect that Miz Mac has never tried French, Italian, Spanish, German or Hungarian cuisine. There is nothing bland about the foods associated with those cultures. I also suspect that she has never tried Ethiopian food, which may just be the blandest food on the planet.
I disagree with Ms Mac's opinion of how white folks cook. I come from a long line of Irish, German, & French Acadian women that knew their way around a kitchen. None of my best recipes are written down, & I never measure the ingredients. I cannot tell you how many times I have fixed cornbread dressing w/gravy, red beans & rice, seafood gumbo, collards, turnips, shrimp creole, & banana pudding.
The reason spices were used was to mask the smell and the flavour of rotten meat. If you looked after your meat properly by drying or salting or whatever there was no need to eat rotten meat covered with plant toxins.
As well you've lost your sense of taste so more spice is better. Food's real flavor not enhanced but covered.
I don't care for a large amount of spice due to gastric burn being not so fun (but a shot of whiskey is not a good time either).

Why the denigration of the racial group that gave them pretty much everything they have probably including spices, for flavour not to cover rancid meat, if we go back pre-ice-age where that same racial group had to live closer to the equator where these critical people's ancestors also lived? Simple jealousy. Its why Obama clearly hates white people and especially white women with an absolute passion because his mother stopped him being white. That is the level of emotional baggage going round and round the carousel in these people's heads in place of logic so why bother about it? Most black or brown or yellow or red Christians have not a single problem with the idea that christ was clearly caucasian based on his features on the Turin shroud just as I would have no problem if he were black or brown or yellow or red because who are we to question God but these critical people who are simply anti-white out of jealousy are flotsum on life's sea with only their hatred of white folk's culture, even to the extent of saying we have none, to cling to as a rock and that hatred manifests itself in absolutely everything they see and hear and do. I feel sorry for them.
I remember back in the day a famous blues musician heard that the blues music probably originated from slaves listening to Irish and especially Scottish folk tunes and the slaves adapted it on the plantations and produced the Blues and he of course thought this was utter tripe and was cultural appropriation of the worst kind "Can we not even have our own music without these whites stealing it" ...... he probably said to himself. But you know what else he said to himself in those more honest times back in the 70's or 80's or whenever it was but long before the internet anyway? He said I'm getting on a plane and I am going to Scotland to find out and he got out to the Scottish islands and heard the old music and had a great old time playing with the local bands and he said absolutely categorically the roots of the Blues are there for anyone who cares to look. He was an honest man and was willing to admit he was wrong about the roots but the Blues are the Blues they are not Scottish music and grew out of collaboration of cultures that both "sides" should celebrate and that is what people like Oprah, Whoopi etc etc etc have driven out of the culture of their own people in the US, the willingness to look in the mirror for the reason for their own perceived failings and not in the nearest convenient white face.
There is a close and positive association between on the one hand a sensitive and sophisticated palate and one the other hand the ability to create and appreciate all the fine and sophisticated things in existence.
All those brain-dead idiots forgot what seasoning was for in the first place: to hide spoiled ingredients. All those complex French sauces? They didn't have refrigeration. Gamy flyblown elk and pheasant needs a rich sauce to cover up the stink. Bad coffee beans? French roast 'em until they taste like charcoal. Slimy veggies having turned? We gotta sauce for that. Mystery meat? Hide it under this pile of ground peppers. All those heavy spices from the tropics are all about covering up bad ingredients. America, inventor of democratized refrigeration, discovered that *fresh* ingredients, prepared simply, have wonderful and complex flavors all their own, and are not improved by blanketing them in a thick coating of spice. I'll take my ribeye with a hint of salt or maybe a bit of butter, and nothing else, because beef tastes good. Fried chicken tastes great right out of the peanut oil with just a bit of salt. Keep your bullshit spice pile, amateurs.
